President's Message
Welcome to the web site for the North Carolina Healthcare Financial Management Association.
As of May 31, 2008, we closed out another successful and award-winning year. For the Chapter Year 2007-2008, the chapter was awarded the Charles F. Mehler Gold Award of Excellence for Education for providing over 23 hours of education programming per member. The chapter also was awarded three Helen M. Yerger Special Recognition Awards. In the Education category, the Management Practices Council was recognized for its project of “NCHFMA Research and Education on NC Hospitals' Current Practices Regarding Implantable Devices” and the Education Council was recognized for its production of the “North Carolina Health Insurance Institute.” In the Innovation category, the chapter was recognized for its “Implementation of the Chapter Financial Management Committee.”
As of June 1, 2008, we are embarking on the new chapter year with plans for an equally productive year of service to our members. We have adopted a strategic plan that calls for, among other things, the programming of 24 hours of education sessions per member. We also plan to encourage member development by supporting and assisting a large number of members in earning HFMA certification. All of that will require a high level of activity and many workers. That activity and work will be provided by the chapter members who volunteer to participate in the chapter’s work through the Chapter Management Matrix. Already over 160 members have joined the Matrix for the year.
This web site is the window to the chapter and its activities and I encourage you to explore it completely and regularly. The planned education sessions and major meetings will all be listed in the Calendar. The strategic plan and many other documents are available and a description and application for membership in the Matrix is also available under the Matrix button above.
So, please use our website to keep informed of and participate in the chapter’s activities.
